The class will introduce and discuss the basics of the Five Element Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We will look at the essential oil materia medica using Chinese medicine theory to utilize essential oils to tonify or sedate an element. Blending techniques and carrier oils will be discussed. This workshop is suitable for teens and adults.
Megan Burns, LAc, RH(AHG)
Megan has taught Western Herbalism at the Appalachia School of Holistic Medicine teaching Aromatherapy and introduction to herbal medicine classes. In 2010, Megan decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Classical Chinese Medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. After graduating Megan served as the Dean of Students for one year and as the Academic Dean for two years. Throughout her education, she continued to find a deep well of passion within to nurture health and wellness by integrating her knowledge of herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and Chinese Medicine. It is her firm belief that our bodies possess an innate wisdom to heal and she is honored to serve as a guide for her clients. Megan is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild and received her 4-year Master’s Degree in Classical Chinese Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, North Carolina. She is nationally certified in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed to practice in the state of Washington and North Carolina.
