Silver Leaf Cafe Features...

Silver Leaf Cafe has announced what just some of the offerings for Midwest Herb Fest are going to be this year! (Spoiler alert: Turmeric Elixir is baaaaaaack!!!) 

Teaghan Owens is a graduate of the culinary program at Kendall College, Chicago Illinois, as well as a University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener in training through The Chicago Botanic Gardens. In her culinary career she has always made it a point to work at restaurants that strive to use sustainable practices while providing local ingredients to customers. Teaghan has spent time more recently in Chicago as a cook at Sol Café, The Kitchen Bistro, and Uncommon Grounds. She is also a volunteer at Windy City Harvest Youth Farms, and previously was a volunteer for an after school culinary class through Urban Lights Chicago Farm.

After an exciting first year running the Silver Leaf Café for the Midwest Herb Fest, 2016, Teaghan is excited to return to the Our Haven kitchen for another weekend of herbal education. It is her mission to provide a plant-focused menu with as many local and sustainable ingredients as possible. Educating the MWHF community about the exciting, accessible, and colorful varieties of fruits and vegetables, while providing affordable prices, is the main goal of the Silver Leaf Cafe.

With the help of many wonderful, hardworking volunteers, and a sponsorship from two local growers, Sprouted Hearts Farm and Living Roots Ecovillage, The Silver Leaf Café is once again delighted to be a part of the Midwest Herb Fest.
